This section describes the streaming media services provided by the University of Wisconsin and how to obtain an account. Accounts are only available to University of Wisconsin System affiliates.

 
     
Streaming Services @UW  

Streaming media services are available to individual institutions within the University of Wisconsin System. The service includes hosting and limited technical support for all major streaming formats including Real, Windows Media and Quicktime. The service is part of the ITS@Wisconsin initiative.


UW System Sponsorship  

Streaming services @UW are subsidized by the University of Wisconsin System Administration (UWSA). The mission of UWSA is to foster the use of instructional technology throughout the UW System colleges. The costs of offering this sevice has been fully subsidized for the 03-04 fiscal year.


Eligibility for using the service  

Streaming media services are available only to individuals who are affiliated with a UW System institution. Each UW institution has a representative who you may contact to set up an account. Non affliated institutions, agencies or individuals are not eligible for the service.


Non-UW System affiliates  

We are not able to provide hosting services or consulting to any individual or group that is not affiated with the UW System. However, the resources on this site are available for anyone to use or reference.


Who to contact for service  

If you would like to use the streaming services @UW you will need to contact a service representative at your institution. review the Contacts chart below and select your institution to locate your local service representative who will set-up a streaming account for you.
