Part 1: Streaming: Why it's Cool

Before streaming technology came along in 1995 you needed to fully download media files to your computer’s hard drive before you could begin playing them. Depending on the file size and your network connection, a ten minute video clip might take anywhere from 2 minutes to two hours to download. Not exactly the most seamless way to integrate video or audio into web sites.
