Lectures that include static slides are one of the most common presentation methods used by educators. On the web these types of presentations are often referred to as illustrated audio. A number of new software tools make it relatively easy to combine PowerPoint slides with narrations to create steaming presentations like I’m doing right now.
If motion is not critical to the content being taught, illustrated audio can be just as effective as video and much easier to produce. Illustrated audio streaming can provide good quality sound and images even for students with modem connections.
