Part 5: Acquiring & Digitizing Media

The first step is to obtain source material or media content. Source material can come from audio and video tapes, digital recordings, or even live sources. The quality of your source media is crucial. If your original audio recordings are weak or muddy sounding or have lots of background noise, they’ll sound even worse when streamed. Likewise, if your images and video material are fuzzy, unsteady or hard to see, they’ll probably look pretty bad when streamed.
The point is, if you want good quality audio or video streams, always work with the highest quality source material right from the beginning.
