In working with raw video and image files one of the simplest ways to cut back on bandwidth requirements is to reduce the height and width of the display dimensions. Most video coming off a video tape is at least 640 pixels wide by 480 pixels high. It also has a frame rate of 30 frames per second. Reducing both the size of the video and the frame rate can significantly reduce the overall size of the file. This should always be your first step in preparing visual media for internet streaming. You’ll notice that most streaming video on the internet uses a small display window. Also, it’s often a little flickery because of a lower frame rate.
