For creating streaming media here are a few principles to keep in mind.
Over high bandwidth LAN or cable modem connections expect to get good video and excellent audio quality.
However, at modem bandwidths do not expect to get good video quality. In fact, at modem bandwidths it may not be a good idea not to use motion video but to consider illustrated audio instead. Audio alone, however, will stream very well at modem bandwidths particularly at 56 kilobits per second.
Always keep bandwidth in mind when creating media for your streaming applications. In the next section we’ll look at how your compressed media files get served.

Bandwidth and quality: LAN and cable bandwidth provides good video and audio quality. 28k to 56k modem connections provide limited motion video but good audio.
